• There's this thing I keep seeing on the internet, all over Instagram and peoples' blogs, and OMG YOU NEED IT!!!!!!!

At least, that's what you keep saying. It sounds like there is a gaping hole in your life that will be filled if only you can just obtain this magical object! "Where is that rug from??? I need it!!!" "I need that scarf!" "OMG I need those salt and pepper shakers." "I need one of those triangle rings!!!" "I totally need to get a pair of those shoes, I loveeeeeee them!"

    People. Just stop it.

I know things are pretty or cool or trendy, and you want to express that. So please, search the depths of your vocabulary for another way to express your compliments and desires. It's really not that hard.

No, really. You do not NEED any of this stuff.

  • It's an art day! These are petunias from our next door neighbour's yard - and another dark background, apparently I just have a thing for them! I experimented a bit with more background texture rather than just flat black, it was hard to do, but I think with some practice it could make for more interesting backgrounds.

Hope everyone's week got off to a good start!

  • Some bamboo for my bamboo lovin' love. <3

Having a nice relaxing day today, except... RACCOONS AUGGGHG#)(@*$&#*!!!!!!!!!!!! The night before last, after very little raccoon action the past month or so, we awoke to THREE nasty raccoon poops in the yard. Which brave Bruno cleaned up yesterday.

And then just this afternoon, I was sitting and reading on the couch, when I looked up and saw a big furry beast climb up onto the deck railing right out the window! By the time I ran out and got the hose, I only managed a quick spraying before it waddled off and back into the neighbour's yard. But, it didn't go without leaving us a new nasty little package right next to the house. :(

    Grumble, grumble...

  • Nasturtiums! We have a big beautiful pot full of them, but I have officially given up the battle against the aphids. (You can see some soap bubbles in the top right, I'd been trying to keep them at bay, but it's hopeless!) They'll be gone by the end of the weekend. Sadness!

I crashed hard this morning, it was the worst I'd felt in a long time, but I managed my last two appointments with a little help from my favourite guy. The dentist sterilized my sad gums and then prescribed me this horrid looking black mouthwash stuff, which I am dreading trying out tonight.

  • Pods! I'm kind of excited for fall and winter when I come across pods. They're something I don't pay a lot of attention to right now, but I'm sure I will develop a keen eye for them once the cooler months come around.

This week feels like a marathon of medical appointments - I still have one more to go tomorrow plus a return to the dentist to see what's up with my gum that got poked too much at the cleaning. I'm pooped! But it'll be really good having all of this stuff out of the way.

  • It may not be immedicately obvious, but this is lettuce! Red oak leaf lettuce - one of my very favourites - that went to bolt a while back, producing tiny little florets on the top.

I am super wiped today, after a bad sleep, but luckily today is my day off from appointments and such (two more to go this week, it's been a busy one...). That's assuming my poor gums calm down yet, still sore from the brutal dental hygienist and salt swishing like a madwoman!

I'm happy to have some grey weather for a few days after this long hot summer. It suits me just fine.

  • I felt like doing something playful and different today, so I did some "doodling" with paint...

Sometimes it's just fun to change things up, even if this might not be my usual style - I think I'm still finding my style, so I'm okay with trying different things!

ps. If you haven't yet, tell me your faves!

  • The dentist appointment yesterday was a massacre!!! So glad I don't have to repeat that for a while now... Today, I tackle a less painful task: my first foray into business banking... I've been working on getting everything properly set up to be able to start selling some of my artwork, and this is one of the final major steps!

It's times like this I'm glad we have Vancity, an amazing progressive credit union, where we live. They understand and are very supportive of small businesses, and I feel confident that they'll be able to meet my needs in an appropriate and supportive way long into the future.

  • I'm still coming off a hefty chronic fatigue flare up over the weekend, so of course, what I really wanted to do today was go to the dentist! Not. But it's just one of those things... I can not like it and do it anyway. I will say though, I don't think it's a coincidence that every day I have a dentist appointment I seem to have a terrible stomach ache. Mind-body what?

I've managed to busy myself with catching up on a bunch of little tasks through the course of the day, mostly to distract myself until my end-of-day appointment, so all is not lost. Now everyone think cavity-free thoughts for me!
