This is one of the white roses in our back yard. I never would've bought rose bushes myself, but I've grown to really enjoy them, especially seeing some of them change colour over time!
Today is a very special day. It's the 3 year anniversary (or as I like to call it "first-date-iversary") of Bruno and my first date in Copenhagen. This first date almost didn't happen because in typical Ariane-style I got some kind of stomach bug the second day of the conference and missed the last two days, but Bruno dragged himself away from the party for the last night of the conference to come hang out with me for a bit at the apartment I was staying at (he was leaving town the next morning).
As some of you know, we had met before a few times over the previous few years, but this was the first time we were both single, and the first time we spent any time together outside of the conference. We were both nervous but excited to spend some time together, and it turned out to be the beginning of something really amazing.
Half of me feels like it was a lifetime ago (in many ways, it was), but half of me can't believe it's been only 3 years since that fateful evening where we drank tea and talked on the couch until the wee hours.
I am so grateful that this lovely human came into my life, and has become my partner. His love and support have allowed me to take some big risks and to start healing in ways I didn't know I needed to. Ever since we took the "long-distance" out of our relationship, I have felt so lucky to fall asleep by his side every night, and I hope we get to celebrate our first-date-iversary for many years to come.
