365 Days of Botany: Day 27

Succulents! Pen sketch!

succulents!

Today I ventured out to the west side of the city to go have a little pow-wow with my doctor. I check in with him every month or so to review where things are at, and make adjustments to the Ariane healing plan. It's so great being able to discuss everything in so much detail, with someone who is up to speed on everything that's going on with me. I continue to be very pleased with how all this is going!

On the way home (before getting stuck in horrible traffic at 3pm - how do people commute every day and not lose their minds???), I stopped by Zulu Records. A lot has changed there since I last stopped in - there's now a Vidomatica taking up about 20% of the store, and they've expanded their record section a lot. Their CD section has been downsized accordingly, and they didn't have much in the way of books/magazines/zines anymore either. I'm not sure what was up with the listening stations - they had records set up where the CD's used to be, and no headphones...

I understand the shift to featuring records more - clearly the CD biz is quickly on its way out - but I have to say, it was pretty bittersweet. I have lots of good memories of finding new music at the listening booths, discovering new bands, and leaving there with wonderful hauls of CDs, books, zines, etc. Regardless, I hope the changes they're making keep Zulu viable for a long time to come.

In other news, last night was my monthly lady-love night. I've been getting together with a group of women once a month since September 2012 (?) to talk about life stuff, but I haven't talked about it a lot. I'm not sure why exactly, but I think it's partly because it's been so precious to me that I've almost been scared to share about it. I never expected such an amazing experience and amazing group of women, but they've been a vital part of my healing journey, and I am so very glad that I took a chance and showed up that first day (and all the days I've shown up since then).

That's it for today!
